"The unpleasant truth is that abuse has profound, wildly irrational consequences. It tears the soul. The only way we can truly understand the effects of abuse is to clarify what it means to be a human being made in the image of God. To understand the manner in which abuse perverts the image of God in humans. Abuse profoundly mars our ability to see ourselves as God designed us: beings uniquely created in His image. Abuse is doubly damaging as it not only distorts our perception of ourselves but also distorts our perception of God our Creator. This incorrect view of God damages intimacy He intended for us to enjoy with Him." -Mending the Soul
Part of our mission is to provide education and support to churches and ministries to provide resources to their congregation or visitors who are in need of safety, support, and emergency provision because of domestic abuse cases.
Abuse and neglect are often overlooked in the church and are historically under supported because of our church history which can encourage women to stay in an abusive marriage to submit to their husbands. Abuse and neglect can also occur with men and children.
- Neglect
- Spiritual or religious abuse
- Sexual abuse
- Narcissistic families
- Verbal emotional abuse
- Physical abuse or domestic violence
We provide education to the church staff on signs to look for in domestic abuse cases and give them tips on practical ways to help.
If your church isn't large enough to justify providing resources for victims, we will act as your advocates to provide the support your congregation needs.
We partner with churches to support domestic abuse victims with what they need including financial support.
